Tree Peony

The attractive red seed pods of the Tree Peony
Paeoni delavayi v.lutea have just begun to burst revealing beautifully glossy black seeds that are falling all around the bush.  It is possible to grow these if you have several years worth of patience and don't mind what you are rewarded with!.

Paeoni delavayi v.lutea

Once inside the Holkham Walled Garden  turn left and stroll along the pathway behind the tower with the weather vane. The Paeoni delavayi v.lutea is bursting into flower and looking magnificant.
Delavay's tree peony is a species of peony named after Pierre Jean Marie Delavay (1834-1895) a French missionary, explorer and botanist who went to China in 1867 and sent over 200,000 plant specimens back to France.
