Columbian Climber

Roses in March, what a treat! These are blooming happily in the heated Orangery  at the Holkham Walled Garden.
At first we thought it might be a very healthy Zephirine Drouhine,  but last week (April 2011) Peter Gill who used to be the nursery man at the walled garden explained that the blooms though similar are bigger and heavier. Not because of the cosy conditions in the Orangery but because it is Columbian Climber, a hybrid tea rose which he planted there years ago.
