Chimonanthus Praecox (wintersweet)

The scent of the Chimonanthus Praecox (wintersweet) in the Holkham Walled Garden is a delight on a cold and overcast day in February. The Wikipedia link describes the plants origins in China where it is was domesticated; inspiring courtly poems from back as far as the 11th  century. It was later introduced to Japan in the 17th century and finally made it into European gardens in the 18th century.
