This pear tree against the south facing wall outside the Holkham Walled Garden is an interesting example of the espalier pruning. The wall itself soaks up and retains some of the heat from the day and each branch has maximum sunlight for the fruit.
End of October and the wasps are feasting on the last pears while the pheasants are enjoying the windfalls.
