Camellia in November

The weather is about to change and become really cold, it is snowing as I write this in Norwich. Yesterday however in the Holkham Walled Garden the Camellia, camellia sasanqua, was in blossom facing north just inside the main gate and this one (pictured) again facing north in the northern section of the garden opposite the renovated vineries. A welcome sight in late November.
There is good advice on planting and care of a Camellia plant on the Royal Horticultural Society website.

  1. Beautiful! I didn't realise Camellias could withstand the cold and still keep such amazing colour.

  2. Thanks for visiting the blog. Camellias are worth planting but take a look at the RHS link to plant in the correct conditions.
